In the third round of Tal Memorial 2013, Magnus Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand played an interesting game. It started with a Berlin Defence by the world number one who quickly decided to trade his black-square bishop to maintain the fight for the center. However, Anand took the initiative on the “a” file. Carlsen offered a pawn to recover control of that file but Vishy didn’t accept. This led to massive changes and on the 39th move both players agreed to a draw. Game analysis by Sergei Shipov and Alexandra Kosteniuk is presented below.

    Después de 32.Ra4 ¿Ganaba Carlsen la calidad atacando la torre con el alfil?

    Hola, Néstor. Tu comentario es muy interesante pues si 32…Bd7 y la torre se retira, por ejemplo 33.Ra5 o 33.Ra2, las negras ganarían material con 33…Bc8 o 33…Bb5 respectivamente. Sin embargo, el blanco no necesita mover la torre sino más bien bloquear el ataque con 33.Bb5 con lo que al mismo tiempo se atacaría a la dama enemiga.
